Some of you may recall the Swan Boats on the seafront boating lake that were swallowed up in the Exmouth Seafront regeneration scheme. Exmouth in Bloom were given one of the smallest two-seater ones. Finding a home for the swan was a bit of a problem until one of our supporters, Peter Riggs, negotiated for us to use a piece of waste land next to the Sewage Pumping Station in town. What a super-successful Community project this became with generous Town Team funding, multiple local businesses and groups, notably the Exmouth Art Group, contributing and the public getting involved with a ‘Name the Swan’ competition. Now the’ Art in the Landscape’ award-winning Sammy the Swan sits proudly guarding the panoramic view of life in the Exe estuary.
