Welcome to Exmouth in Bloom….making a positive difference to our community.

Exmouth in Bloom, a group of enthusiastic volunteers, celebrates its  50th anniversary in 2021. It has grown and evolved and works in partnership with the Town, District and County Councils to raise horticultural and environmental awareness in the community and ensure quality floral displays, all year round, in and around the town.

There was no 2020 South West in Bloom competition due to Covid 19 restrictions. However we were proud to receive certificates from the RHS acknowledging our Bloom contribution during Lockdown.

In the South West in Bloom 2019 Champion of Champions category, we were awarded GOLD. This is 16th GOLD we have been awarded since the RHS took over in 2001. During this same period we have been awarded  St. Bridget Cup, 11 times for the best entry in our category of Large Town.

In addition in 2017 we won the Michael McGarhey Trophy for Exceptional Community Effort and in  2018 we were thrilled to receive the Art in the Landscape Trophy for our incredible community-funded Swan Project (above)

The Committee comprises up to 15 of our Volunteers.

In recent years the Bloom group has helped to drive forward the transition to more permanent planting, using Mediterranean and Antipodean varieties. We are mindful of adapting to climate change and always have an eye on sustainability, the provision of habitats for wildlife and making space for indigenous wild flowers.

Our aim is not only to provide attractive displays of plants and flowers but to involve and educate members of the community of all ages, businesses and voluntary groups based in the town, about the inportance of caring for our town environment and how vital our work is for the mental well-being of all. Working as a team we make a positive difference to our surroundings and constantly aim to enhance the beautiful location in which we live.
