Nine hardy volunteers gathered on a grey November Sunday morning to help with the last weed and tidy before Xmas. After a quick discussion we set off to cover all the areas of town, to remove choking leaves and to try to stop weeds taking hold. Do chickweed and nettles come in new compost we wonder….. it would seem so, as those weeds are thriving! There are always some lovely surprises as we work……people often stop to compliment us and say how they admire our work and we often come across beautiful Smilestones and painted shells hidden in our planters.
After our usual 90 minutes work and many bags of gardening waste later we all headed to The Powder Monkey for a warm up and coffee where 5 more volunteers joined us for a social catch up. What a lovely way to spend a morning. If you are reading this and would like to join our jolly band of volunteers, you will be most welcome, so please go to the ‘Contact Us’ tab at the top of this page to email us.
It’s also beginning to look a bit like Christmas
