18.04.20 Making The Difference: 6. The Triangle Bed

Nearly 40 years ago the Railway Station was moved and the Marine Way bypass created. Included in the design was an underpass as well as a direct pathway from the Station to the town.

There was simple access planting there for many years until Exmouth in Bloom was asked by DCC to redesign the planting in 2016.

Graham Bell drew up plans for a new look planting scheme and once approved DCC moved in to complete the hard landscaping with Exmouth in Bloom completing the planting.

Since then the ‘Triangle Bed’, as it became known, has somehow defaulted to the care of Exmouth in Bloom!  There is now colour, movement and texture here all year round and the little boat, filled with various drought resistant and alpine plants, is thriving. None of the area gets watered by us unless we have cause to replace or add plants or shrubs.

Last year (2019), Exmouth Local Community Wildlife Garden installed a series of wonderful bug hotels in amongst the trees and on the sleeper walls.

We are very grateful to have two sponsors of this area, Hello Exmouth Language School and World of Country Life who have advertising boards in the area. We thank them for their valued support.
