11.09.20 We start the spruce up of a neglected area by the Station

There is a fenced off triangle of land which we have had our eye on for renovating since March 2018. Finding out who owns, or is responsible for, this very neglected patch, (which holds a ‘box’ containing a water pump we are told), has drawn  a blank at every turn and meanwhile the fence is deteriorating. The area, which is just off the Station concourse  and on the Exe Estuary Trail, a major walking and cycling route, takes visitors to the beach.

Our original plan, to spruce up this area, was to tear down the fence, remove all the dross from inside and make a pleasant seating area, but we haven’t been able to get permission for that. Instead 10 wonderful volunteers turned up to clean off the ivy and remove the rotting fence capping. Graham will spray the fence with a fungicide and Build Base have very  generously  donated new capping which will be fixed next week. Thank you Ben at Build Base, Exmouth, for your unexpected but very much appreciated support.

It looks better already for some serious TLC.

Getting the litter, old tree branches and rubbish safely removed from the interior will be our next mission!
