02.11.21: The Strand Flags get a wash and mend.

The Flags that have been flying in the Strand since May, when we celebrated the start of our Golden Anniversary entry to Britain in Bloom, have been taken down and washed for the Winter. Having been out in all weathers for so long, quite a few needed mending so we had a sewing session to repair strengthen and renew damaged parts. All 11 flags are now in storage until July next year.  Huge thanks go to Sue, Marion and Andrea (our professionals) plus Elaine and Carol, for manning the sewing machines ( a girl’s best friend!) and to Liz, Dee, Marion, Sharon, Sandie and Gerry for pining, trimming, unpicking, making tea and generally keeping us all happy.

We also made a start on a ‘commission’ flag for Budleigh Fish and Chip Shop. We will let you know how it goes!
