30.06.24: Tribute to Alba in the Dinosaur Paddocks

What a workparty! 16 of us. Les came early  with his mower and we edged, weeded and litter picked a huge bag of rubbish from the undergrowth. We washed graffiti off the seating, weeded the Spirit of the Exe boat in the Palm outside seating area, which has a  colourful tribute to The Gateway Club (for young adults with learning difficulties) and planted sunflowers in memory of Alba who worked at Sundowners Cafe.  Some of her friends  donated the sunflower plants and were there to help. This is an area that is never artificially watered so the friends will water the sunflowers this summer.

 What a lovely memorial.

Peter and Pauline finished off weeding Manchester Road. What a task that is…. and Gerry and Val tackled Haldon Surgery garden while Richard B gave all the planters a drink of water!.

So an awful lot was accomplished.

A lady gave  Richard B a donation for us all to have cake with our coffee today in appreciation of the work we do. What a  lovely gesture. Big thanks! We sat under the trees and  shared  delicious Tea bread and  Coffee Walnut sponge.
