13.10.22: Exmouth excels at the Britain in Bloom (South West) Awards Day

Exmouth hit the jackpot with the best  ever results  at the South West in Bloom awards  held at  the beautiful Tythe Barn, Haselbury Mill, near Crewkerne.  8 committee members plus Mayor, Councillor Steve Gazzard attended the Presentation.

We are proud and thrilled to say that Exmouth in Bloom won three major accolades.

GOLD  and THE ST. BRIDGET CUP   for being the best in our category of Large Town.  A wonderful  well-deserved result and  Exmouth in Bloom thanks everyone for their efforts. Exmouth will now be recommended to represent the South West in the National Britain in Bloom Finals 2023.

THE BARRY CRUSE TROPHY for the BEST WEBSITE,  and the greatest surprise of all….

In  addition, we were really pleased to be nominated in the following classes –

The Abbis Cup for best Municipal display  (Manor Gardens)

Clem Preece Cup – for best school effort  ( Littleham School gardening club )

South West Tourism Trophy – for the best Portfolio

The Serco Cup – best Community Initiative

The Shaun Cregan Trophy for the best Floral Pub ( Bicton Inn)

Exmouth’s entries in  Business Leisure and Tourism, It’s your Neighbourhood  and Childrens’ Painting Competition did VERY  well,  (we will be announcing these at our Local Awards Evening on 20th October).

A massive ‘well done’ to everyone who helped in any way to achieve this success. It’s been hard at times but we have been well rewarded through great team work.

Huge thanks go to Exmouth Town Council, East Devon District Council Streetscene, our local Devon County Councillors, the incredible  Bloom volunteer team, our Waterer Mike Hole (My Handyman) who kept the displays alive and all the local groups who  have helped make these awards possible.

Exmouth in Bloom would  also like to dedicate this extraordinary success to our friend and President the late Pat Graham MBE.
