06.07.25: Sensory Garden wildflowers pose a problem.

Another workparty at the Sensory Garden working on the Wild flower borders that were looking properly dead. ( see photos). Dealing with these borders is far from easy. It’s their 4th year of self-setting, but grass and unwanted weeds have multiplied out of control, despite our best efforts  to remove them. So……. We have experimented  and have areas where the flower stems have been cut down and laid on the ground to set seed and areas where we have pulled up the dead flower stems and shaken the seed onto the soil. We shall wait to see which method  works best.

A tiring morning for the 10 marvellous volunteers who made it today. You were all stars. We are extremely grateful for your hard work today …. And what a difference was made.
