Lockdown 2 lifted and we are in Tier 2 so allowed to meet in small groups outside. Hurrah!
Because of restrictions and as the Britain in Bloom competition was cancelled, the annual Summer ‘finger tip’ clean and tidy of our Judging route didn’t happen. So with our volunteers ‘chomping at the bit’ we organised a Winter work party to cover the same job.
In total 24 volunteers responded to the call although a few stood down because of inclement weather. Elaine organised teams with experienced leaders and up to 5 volunteers in a group.
Although sadly we didn’t get a photo of all who came, here is a flavour of the morning.
Thank you everyone. What a wonderful team we have!
Strimming and litter picking were Marion, Eve and Dave. (Eve was given a box of chocolate biscuits in appreciation of our work, by a lady waiting outside the Station, for us all to share!)
Graham, Linda, Richard and Peter tackled the Dinosaur paddocks then moved over to the Strand seating where they joined by Gerry, Alison, Liz, Sue G, Jacky and Elaine.
Carol came by with hand made blue masks for us, which a number of volunteers have been making, to help keep us safe.
Then finally on to the Waterwheel for the last job of the day and Streetscene’s Andy and Luke came to remove all the resulting debris.
Much appreciation and thanks to EVERYONE.
NB Masks are often worn by volunteers but are dropped momentarily for photos.
