Groups of children from local schools and pre-school nurseries came to Manor Gardens to help EDDC Streetscene and Exmouth in Bloom plant up four large beds with red, white and blue flowers in commemoration of the Royal Wedding.
Sunshine Pre School and Dolphin Pre School children, aged three and four, each had a turn at planting and seemed to have great fun. They arrived in tiny high visibility jackets, which stole the show.
Year 6 children from Brixington came next and worked together like a well oiled machine. Their enthusiasm was infectious.
Exeter Road Year 6 children arrived in style on their bikes en route from an expedition at Orcombe point searching for plastic particles in the sand. They made a super job of their planting.
Year 4 children from Withycombe Raleigh School completed the final bed in the afternoon and looked like they had had a really good time.
Huge thanks goes to Streetscene for all their preparation and planning. Each of the beds has a different design, but has used the same type of plants so that the overall effect when the children had finished was, and is, stunning.
Hopefully, these youngsters are our keen gardeners of the future.

Dolphin and Sunshine Nurseries stole our hearts with their High Viz jackets, the same as the professionals!
Exeter Road Primary School arrived by bike.

…and worked like a well oiled machine
Brixington Academy came with wellies and gloves.

…and got stuck in straight away.
Withycombe Raleigh C of E Primary School took the afternoon slot.

…..and got on with the job in no time at all.
