The South West in Bloom Presentation Day at Taunton on 6 October was memorable. We won gold again, and also the St Bridget Cup, presented by Lord Julian Fellowes and his wife Emma
The Cup is awarded to the best large town, the others being Babbacombe Bay, Yeovil, Newquay, Penzance, and St Austell.
We are thrilled that Exmouth has won this award. It’s a fitting tribute to the huge year-round effort made by the Bloom committee, our helpers and Friends, the Town Council and Streetscene, the local businesses and organisations that support us, and the nurseries that supply our plants. Congratulations everyone.
The It’s Your Neighbourhood awards were presented by Lady Fellowes. Our results were:
Outstanding: The Quay Greenfingers Group, and Big Beds @ Brixington
Thriving: The Hollows, and Blooming Bicton Street
Advancing: Camperdown Terrace, and Rolle College corner
We were nominated for four discretionary awards (but didn’t win):
City of Bath trophy for Landscaping – underpass bed
Clem Preece Memorial Cup for Outstanding school – Marpool
Sargent Trophy for Outstanding effort& dedication – Exmouth
West Country TV Cup for Outstanding specific project – underpass bed
