We may have collected a whole lot of revolting stuff today……..bottles, cans, plastic and other rubbish that has built up over the years (e.g. a crisp packet was clearly marked ‘best before 2013’) and we may have had to deal with bags of dog poo, got scratched by brambles or stung with nettles, but the joy of hearing the birds singing, watching flocks of Oystercatchers flying over the estuary, seeing the wild flowers beginning to bloom and the views from the path were all the payment anyone could have wished for.
